The Huawei EPSD Service Board is an 8-port EPON OLT interface board designed to work with Optical Network Terminals (ONTs) to implement OLT functionality in an EPON system. This board is used in MA5680T/MA5683T and other OLT products. The Huawei EPON (Ethernet Passive Optical Network) is a new type of fiber optic access technology. It uses a point-to-multipoint structure and passive optical transmission to provide multiple services over Ethernet. Huawei EPON employs PON technology at the physical layer, uses the Ethernet protocol at the link layer, and achieves access through Ethernet topology over PON. Thus, Huawei EPON combines the advantages of PON and Ethernet technologies: low cost, high bandwidth, strong scalability, flexible and fast service reorganization, compatibility with existing Ethernet, easy management, and more.
